Description

1971 50C Kennedy Half--Struck on an Underweight Planchet--AU55 NGC. 9.96 grams. A typical 1971 half dollar should weigh 11.34 grams. This example has unusually narrow rims, but otherwise has a normal appearance. Lustrous and lightly toned with moderate facial marks and peripheral coin counter abrasions. The U.S. Mint struck coins for Israel, Liberia, Panama, and the Philippines in 1971, but none of these issues approximate the weight and diameter of the present piece.

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24UA, PCGS# 6716, Greysheet# 6913)
