Description
Seldom Offered Error Eisenhower Dollar--Missing Clad Layer
1971-D $1 Eisenhower Dollar--Obverse Clad Layer Missing--MS63 PCGS. Such errors are relatively common on Washington quarters, but Eisenhower Dollars are legitimately rare. The obverse displays a reddish-copper appearance, the reverse is clad and essentially untoned. Since the planchet was underweight at the time of striking due to the missing clad layer on the obverse, both sides are not fully brought up around the peripheries.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2585, PCGS# 7407, Greysheet# 7923)
