Proof Ike Dollar With Partial Strike on the Edge
1973-S Ike Dollar--Edge Strike--PR 60. Created when the finished coin was caught vertically between the upper and lower dies so that design detail appears on a small portion of the edge instead of reeding. What is seen are portions of the letters D ST on the edge, just above these letters on the coin face. The edge strike was at an angle which must have caused the coin to eject at a high rate of speed from the closing dies. Very interesting and the first we have seen.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 9455)
