    PR66 Cameo 1975-S Nickel
on a Liberia 10 Cent Planchet

1975-S 5C Jefferson Nickel -- Struck on a Liberia 10 Cent Planchet -- PR66 Cameo NGC. Ex: New England Collection. 1.91 grams. In 1975, the U.S. Mint struck seven denominations of coins for Liberia, including the copper-nickel 10 cent with a standard weight of 1.8 gm. A U.S. nickel weighs 5.0 gm, as it has since 1866 aside from its wartime silver alloy. Light honey toning visits the sharply struck devices and glassy fields. Due to the undersized flan, the date is partial and the mintmark is absent.
