Description
Astounding 1976 Type Two Bicentennial Dollar
Obverse Indented by Smaller Planchet, MS66
1976 Type Two Eisenhower Dollar--Obverse Indented by Smaller
Planchet--MS66 NGC. The allure of this piece is due to the
dramatic nature of the error as well as the wonderful condition of
the host coin. NGC states on the label that this 1976 Type Two
Eisenhower dollar was indented by a "smaller planchet."
Specifically, it appears that a blank nickel planchet (not
included) entered the coining chamber at approximately the same
time as the dollar flan. The result is a dramatic indent error that
obliterates approximately 20% of the obverse between 1 o'clock and
3 o'clock. A rare error that is sure to witness active bidding.
