1977 Kennedy Half Dollar, MS66
Struck Over a 1976 Nickel
1977 50C Kennedy Half Dollar -- Overstruck on a 1976 Nickel --
MS66 NGC. An unusual double denomination combination bearing
two different dates. Jefferson gazes north relative to the portrait
of Kennedy. Portions of the left wing of Monticello appear on the
eagle's breast. The Jefferson nickel date is faint but apparent
near Kennedy's bust tip. The Kennedy half dollar date is partial
due to the undersized flan, but the upper two-thirds of the 77 is
present. From the half dollar strike, most of LIBERTY and the
country name are absent, and appropriately, HALF DOLLAR is entirely
missing.
