Description
1977-S Nickel, PR65 Deep Cameo
on a Philippines Sentimo Planchet
1977-S 5C Jefferson Nickel -- Struck on a Philippines Sentimo
Planchet -- PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS. 0.58 grams. The Philadelphia
Mint struck 1976 Philippines sentimos in aluminum. Per numista.com,
the coins had an alloy of 95% aluminum and 5% magnesium. They
weighed 1.22 grams with a diameter of 19 mm. The sentimos were
square with rounded corners. The present 1977-S nickel was struck
on a sentimo planchet, aligned with the collar die near 7:30. IN
GOD and UNITED have a normal appearance, but the remaining
peripheral legends are distorted, especially LIBERTY and AMERICA.
The icy devices are sharply struck, and the glassy fields are
unblemished.From The Fred Weinberg Collection.
