Struck on a Cent Planchet
1979-P Anthony Dollar -- Struck on a Cent Planchet -- MS65 Red
PCGS. A lustrous orange-red Gem with glimpses of rose and
cobalt-blue on the reverse. The date and mintmark are off the flan.
The reverse suggests this is a 1999 dollar, since the 1979 to 1981
Anthony dollars preceded the copper-plated zinc alloy, and there
are traces of zinc in the feathers of the eagle. Dramatic off metal
Anthony dollar errors remain highly popular.Ex: Milwaukee ANA Signature (Heritage, 8/2007), lot 2662, which realized $5,750.
