    Description

Deep Obverse Die Cap on a
    1985-P Nickel, MS68

1985-P 5C Jefferson Nickel--Obverse Die Cap--MS68 NGC. This deep die cap is housed in an extra-thick NGC holder. The coin stuck to the obverse die after the initial normal strike, and was then struck against a series of newly fed planchets. The multiple strikes flattened, spread, and distorted the reverse design, while the obverse partly wrapped around the obverse die.
