Description
Extraordinary Capped Die Washington Quarter
1985-P Washington Quarter 25C --Multiple Struck Obverse Die Cap--MS68 NGC. This is a remarkable die cap with a heavy lip to the right. The reverse exhibits a greatly expanded counterbrockage impression. At least four distinct strikes may be seen on this example. Somehow, the first striking became jammed against the obverse die, effectively capping the die, with additional strikes also visible. The obverse has reflective, prooflike surfaces with light gray color and excellent eye appeal. This amazing error will astound the mint error specialists and general collectors.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2482, PCGS# 5918, GSID# 5741)
