Description

1987 1C Lincoln Cent--Struck Thru Split Layer--MS63 Red and Brown ANACS. The previously struck Cent (not this coin) split across the horizontal axis, and failed to eject from the die chamber. The thin struck fragment came between the newly fed planchet (this coin) and the obverse die, creating an incused image of the obverse, rotated widely clockwise. The obverse die also made an impression, since the struck fragment was thin. The reverse has a normal appearance. A spot at 2 o'clock on the obverse provides the only detraction.
