Description
Triple Error 1999 Lincoln Cent
1999 1C Cent--Obverse Cap, Bonded Strike, Double Struck--MS64 Red. This coin is not certified because it will not fit into a grading service holder. An interesting error, the first planchet was fed into the press and became an obverse die cap. Its reverse displays remnants of what was probably a full brockage. We cannot see the entire reverse of this die cap because it was struck into and bonded to another planchet. Before this double planchet error was ejected from the press, it was struck once again, albeit off center from the original impression of the die cap. As a result, the second planchet displays a broadstruck reverse image and an obverse impression that it shares with part of the first planchet. Some core metal has also been exposed.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22K2, PCGS# 3154, GSID# 2319)
