Description

1999-P 10C Dime--Partial Collar with Obverse Partial Brockage--MS66 NGC. The story of this spectacular error begins with a normally struck Dime that was not fully ejected from the dies. A new planchet was fed onto the dies, and the Dime was struck into the planchet. The newly created Dime has a partial imprint from the reverse of the previously struck Dime, on the obverse at 8 o'clock. The presence of the earlier struck Dime prevented planchet metal from filling that area. Instead, metal flowed to the rims, which are distorted and unusually raised. A spectacular mint error.
