Description

2000-D 1C Cents--Mated Pair--MS65 Red PCGS, two examples. A mated pair of mis-struck modern Denver Mint Lincoln Cent, labeled as such by PCGS and given consecutive serial numbers. The first coin, which PCGS has inaccurately designated as Coin #2, was broadstruck and did not fully eject from the dies. About 5% of the coin was struck for a second time at 7 o'clock relative to the first strike, and 2 o'clock relative to the second strike. This second strike occurred with a newly fed planchet underneath (PCGS Coin #1), such that the second coin was also broadstruck with a deep indentation at 2 o'clock where the first coin met the obverse die. It's an impressive mess.
