Description
2000-P 5C Jefferson Nickel -- Double Denomination on a 1978 Cent -- MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. Perhaps due to a prank on the part of a mint employee, visitor, or vendor, a 1978 cent ended up between 2000-P nickel dies. The undertype is particularly prominent on the reverse with ONE CENT, UNITED STATES, and the Lincoln Memorial apparent. The Memorial is parallel and tilted right relative to Monticello. On the obverse, the undertype is evident from the back of Lincoln's head near Jefferson's nose. TRUST is faintly visible at 12 o'clock. Most of the nickel date and mintmark is off the flan, and the cent date is indistinct.Auction Info
