Description
Exciting Reverse Die Cap Cent
2001 1C --Reverse Die Cap--MS63 Red ANACS. This Cent was at first normally struck, but adhered to the reverse die. The Cent then acted as a die for a series of subsequent strikes, with the edge and thickness distorted as it stretched over the reverse die. The reverse has a razor sharp strike from the reverse, with a wire fragment still attached to the incredibly raised rim. The obverse has a faint, enlarged, and distorted image, with date (and the absence of a mintmark) clearly legible.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22K6, PCGS# 3166, GSID# 2327)
