2002-S Cent Struck on Clad Dime Planchet - Part of an Original Proof Set
2002-S 1C Cent--Struck on 10C Planchet--PR66 Deep Cameo Uncertified. At first glance, this is just another 2002-S proof set in the original holders and box of issue. However, the Cent has the same color as a Dime, and despite the double strike that proofs receive, the letters in UNITED STATES have the slight spread that is characteristic of a wrong planchet error. Improved quality controls at the mints have made relevant 2002-dated errors nearly unheard of, and this spectacular wrong planchet error (presumably struck on a Clad Dime) in an original proof set will receive no shortage of attention from devoted specialists.Auction Info
