Description
2007-D 25C Idaho Statehood Quarter -- Deep Obverse Die Cap -- MS65 PCGS. The first strike was normal, but the coin did not eject, and instead clung to the Washington die. The coin was struck one or more additional times, with a planchet fed each time between the statehood side and the statehood die. The diameter expanded with each strike, and the coin partly wrapped around the Washington die. The statehood side became blurry, but the design remains easy to discern. Lustrous and untoned with a red obverse rim where the copper core was extruded. Two lengthy narrow curved impressions of undetermined origin cross the top of the Washington portrait.
