Description
Gem 1941 Jefferson Nickel Mated Pair
Mated Error Pair of 1941 Jefferson Nickels. Both coins are housed in separate NGC holders that have consecutive serial numbers and bear the New England Collection pedigree. Coin #1 is MS65 NGC; and Coin #2 is MS65 Six Full Steps NGC. Coin #2 was fed between dies first, and its initial strike was normal. It failed to eject, however, and a planchet (to become Coin #1) was fed between it and the obverse die. This combination of planchet and coin was then struck. Thus, coin #1 is a broadstrike with a brockage reverse. Coin #2 is double struck, and its second strike is a broadstrike with obverse indent. From The New England Collection of Error Coins.
