Description
1853 Large Cent--Struck From Misaligned Dies--AU 50 Whizzed. One of the more common error types, mis-aligned strikes are created when the obverse (hammer) die is out of alignment relative to the reverse (anvil) die. This differs from an off-center striking in that a mis-aligned die (MAD) will have a normal reverse. The obverse of this piece is approximately 10% mis-aligned. Unfortunately the surfaces have been whizzed to simulate luster. Also included are (3) Large cent blank planchets, all Type Twos with upset rims.
