Description
Bicentennial Dollars--Missing Clad Layer Errors
1976-D Eisenhower Dollars--Missing Clad Layers--MS 60 Cleaned. Interesting and obviously rare errors, this lot contains three partial coins, each missing a different part of the clad layer. The obverse of Coin 1 has a copper-nickel obverse with a weakly defined, copper tinted reverse where the copper core obviously did not bond to the outer layer. Coin 2 is copper throughout, missing any trace of the outer, copper-nickel shell. This piece is weakly defined on both sides and heavily spotted. Coin 3 has an ill-defined copper obverse with no trace of copper-nickel bonding to that side, and a razor sharp, copper-nickel reverse. Each piece had the missing clad layer(s) separate after striking. All three were found in the same bag by a bank teller in Louisiana.Auction Info
