Description

Hobo Nickel of "Bo's" Brother

The following group of Hobo nickels were all consigned with papers of authenticity from The Original Hobo Nickel Society. Each certificate has a color photograph that accompanies it along with comments by Del Romines (DR) and Gail Kraljevich (GK). We include their comments on each coin, which incidentally are sometimes quite different from each other and can make for interesting reading.

Subject: "Bo's soldier brother on a 1919 nickel, carved by George Washington "Bo" Hughes." DR: "Probably carved in the early to mid 1960s. A relatively rare carving by "Bo" where he used the raised "stubble" instead of a beard on the carving of his brother. The tone indicates this was one of those toned in the 1970s by either "Bo" or Willard "WC" Chisolm. One of "Bo's" better after hand injury works." GK: "This coin is much nicer than those carved after "Bo's" hand injury. Much more detail--much finer carving." Registration Number 116. Above Average Quality.

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28N9, PCGS# 9450, GSID# 10334)
