    Undated Anthony Dollar, MS67
    100% Obverse Indent
Struck Between the Reverse Die and a Planchet

Undated $1 Anthony Dollar -- Reverse Half of Two Planchets Struck Together -- MS67 NGC. This mishap at the Mint began with a pair of Anthony dollar planchets fed together between a pair of dies, one planchet centered directly above the other. The present piece was the bottom planchet, struck between the reverse die and the upper planchet. Viewed from the reverse, the coin has a normal appearance, but the reeded edge includes a steep knife rim of irregular height above the obverse, which shows only a ghostly indication of the Susan B. Anthony portrait.
