    Description

    New Orleans Morgan Dollar, AU53
    Struck 30% Off Center

Undated $1 New Orleans Morgan Dollar -- Struck 30% Off Center -- AU53 NGC. This O-mint silver dollar was struck widely off center toward 6:30. The date is off the flan, as is TED STATES OF AM, but Liberty's head is complete, as is the wreath and eagle except for the wingtips. E PLURIBUS UNUM and ONE DOLLAR are also complete. There are no mentionable marks across the medium gunmetal-gray surfaces. The eagle's breast, and the hair above the ear, confirm a brief stint in commerce despite the coin's unconventional appearance. Morgan dollars were struck in great quantity, and many went directly into sealed bags for decades of storage. Nonetheless, off-center Morgans are seldom encountered, and more often than not are only 10% or less off center.
