Description

Washington Quarter Struck on a Clad Dime Planchet

Undated 25C Philadelphia Mint Washington Quarter--Struck on a Clad 10C Planchet--MS66 PCGS. The P mintmark is right of Washington's queue, and the eagle reverse further limits the striking era to between 1980 and 1998. The date is completely off the flan, due to the much smaller diameter of a Dime planchet. Fairly well centered, most of the portrait and eagle are present. A satiny chestnut-gray premium Gem, some peripheral elements show expected incompleteness of strike, since the dies were spaced for Quarter planchets. Cents on Dime planchets are not uncommon, but Quarters on Dime planchets are rare.(#5908) (Registry values: N14)
