Noteworthy Near-Mint Susan B. Anthony Dollar
Struck on a Brass Cent Planchet
Undated Susan B. Anthony Dollar--Struck on a Brass Cent
Planchet--AU58 PCGS. The largest circulating denomination on
the smallest denomination's planchet. Most of the portrait is
visible on the obverse, as is the upper right part of the issue's
11-sided inner rim, but the date and the LI of LIBERTY are off the
flan. The planchet is brass and not copper-plated zinc, offering a
clue to when it was struck; it must have been produced in the
original run for the SBA design, 1979 to 1981, and not during its
brief revival in 1999.
