Description

Zauditu gold Pattern 1/2 Birr (4 Werk) EE 1917 (1924) AU58 NGC, Addis Ababa mint, KM-X4.1, Fr-22, Gill-Y22. Obv. Crowned, veiled, and draped bust left. Rev. Crowned Lion of Judah left, head facing, cradling cruciform staff with banner in raised forepaw; effaced legend below. A few lightly scattered marks and a minor rim bruise, but an otherwise exceptional example of this very scarce type, featuring the portrait of Empress Zauditu, as well as the defaced legend on the reverse.
