Haile Selassie I gold "Coronation" Medal EE 1921 (1928) AU58 NGC, Addis Ababa mint, KM-X17, Gill-RT15. 22.15gm. Ras Tafari Makonnen (Haile Selassie) was crowned as the Emperor of Ethiopia in 1930, though he was de facto ruler of the country already in 1928 while the reigning Empress Zewditu focused on religious activities. Displaying lemony luster on an unclipped planchet that is more center struck than higher-graded examples that have crossed our desk.
