    Two 19th Century New York City Medals. 1853 Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations featuring the Crystal Palace building on the obverse and the beginning and completion dates on the reverse within a wreath. By Dowler of Birmingham, England. Forrer 7:232. White metal, 51.5 mm, 46.3 gm. Reflective surfaces. Nicely detailed but with some minor tin pest and a few hairlines. Includes a newspaper clipping from 1956 related to the subject; and an 1842 Croton Aqueduct medal by Robert Lovett. Obverse: view of reservoir with dimensions and capacity statistics. Reverse: cross section view of aqueduct and view of New York City in background. Additional statistics in exergue. The New York Public Library now stands where the aqueduct was originally constructed. White metal, 51 mm, 56.6 gm. 2-mm rim nick at 7 o'clock obverse and a few other minor surface disturbances, but otherwise AU.
