Description
Club Rays, Rounded Ends 1787 Fugio Copper
Sole Certified Uncirculated Example
Newman 3-D, MS62 Brown
1787 1C Fugio Cent, Club Rays, Rounded Ends MS62 Brown NGC.
Newman 3-D, W-6680, R.3. Courtesy of the Bank of New York
hoard, examples of pointed rays Fugio cents are relatively
available in Uncirculated quality. But that source must not have
contained better grade club rays Fugios, since none are certified
as Mint State except the present piece. It is a walnut-brown
example with satin luster and a mark-free appearance. Unimportant
planchet granularity is limited to the reverse periphery. Although
Newman 3-D is best known for its club rays obverse, the reverse is
also distinctive, since the upper rings display broad repunching
and die lapping has removed portions of the label surrounding WE
ARE ONE. Listed on page 84 of the 2012 Guide Book.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# AX5E, PCGS# 904, Greysheet# 196)
