Description
1787 Fugio Cent, MS66 Red and Brown
N. 8-B, UNITED STATES, Pointed Rays
1787 1C Fugio Cent, UNITED STATES, Cinquefoils MS66 Red and
Brown NGC. N. 8-B, W-6740, R.3. Glimpses of mint red fill the
legends and sundial and outline the rings. The devices are light
chestnut-brown. The lower obverse and upper reverse are not fully
struck, which is the situation for most examples seen since the
dies were slightly misaligned. A splendidly preserved
representative of this interesting die marriage. A curly lintmark
(as made) near the AT in STATES will identify this piece in any
future auction appearances. Struck from a boldly clashed reverse
die, as is usual for the variety. Listed on page 87 of the 2014
Guide Book.Ex: Ft. Lauderdale FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2005), lot 6942, which realized $6,037.50.
