Description
Uncirculated 1856 Flying Eagle Cent
1856 1C MS 63 Reverse Spot Tooled. The golden-brown surfaces show modest prooflike tendencies in the fields. There are a few small abrasions, but neither side is excessively bagmarked for the Select level. The reverse field below the N in CENT appears to have been worked over in an effort to conceal a distracting blemish. The result is a few shallow, closely spaced pinscratches. The 1856 Flying Eagle cent is the first small cent in United States history. With an original mintage of perhaps 1,500 pieces, this issue is also a classic rarity that always elicits strong bids regardless of grade.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 2013, GSID# 15310)
