Description

Sharply Defined 1856 Flying Eagle Cent

1856 1C --Struck Through, Cleaned--ANACS. Unc. Details, Net AU 50. The overall appearance of this coin is generally appealing despite the impairments. Both sides exhibit orange-brown coloration that is somewhat subdued from an old cleaning. In addition, the lower obverse to the right of the date was struck through a wire or some other piece of metal. The striking definition is, however, noticeably sharp and the only mentionable post-production distraction is a diagonal abrasion over the eagle's breast. A relatively affordable example of this key first-year issue.
