    Description

    1856 Flying Eagle Cent, Snow-9, PR64
    A Sharp, Satiny Example

1856 1C Snow-9 PR64 NGC. Snow-9 is plentiful in the context of 1856 Flying Eagle cent varieties. Rick Snow writes that the reverse die was among the original 1856 tail dies, but that the obverse was likely prepared sometime in 1857. He writes: "These were probably struck during a long period starting in late 1857 and continuing until 1860."

The present Choice proof displays a full strike and satiny surfaces. Deep chocolate-brown patina blankets each side, and any grade-limiting marks are well-hidden. Hints of bronze-gold color shine through when rotated beneath a light. An excellent opportunity to acquire a sharp example of this first-year small cent key date.
