Bid Source: Internet bidder
Description
1857 MS 65 PCGS. Light gray-tan color and excellent mint luster. A bit softly struck, as often seen on this date. A very slight, vertical planchet rift projects down into the lower obverse field from the belly of the eagle. A splendid coin that demonstrates why copper-nickel cents used to be called "white cents."
