Description

1857 Flying Eagle Cent, MS65
Radiantly Lustrous

1857 1C MS65 PCGS. Vibrant bronze-gold mint luster delivers eye-catching appeal on each side of this Gem Flying Eagle type coin. Close study with a loupe reveals scattered small marks in the fields, primarily on the obverse, but these are mint-made, as result of debris on the die face. The usual striking softness is noted on the eagle's tailfeathers and head, as well as the corresponding portions of the reverse wreath, but the centers are sharp. A faint peppering of tiny specks is discernable with magnification. Only 15 coins are numerically finer at PCGS (1/15).(Registry values: N2998)
