Description

1858 Large Letters Cent, MS65
Well-Struck, Semiprooflike Surfaces

1858 1C Large Letters MS65 NGC. High Leaves, Close E in ONE. The eagle is razor sharp on this lustrous, reflective cent, with coppery luster over the smooth, hard surfaces. Reddish accents enliven the gleaming tan-gold fields and devices. A few flecks are visible with a glass, particularly on the reverse, where parallel die polish lines are visible under magnification. The eye appeal is fantastic on both sides and the strike is first rate. Census: 21 in 65, 5 finer (2/15).(Registry values: N2998)
