Description

Highly Lustrous MS66 1858 Large Letters Cent

1858 1C Large Letters MS66 NGC. Low Leaves, Closed E in ONE. While near-Gem survivors of this final-year Flying Eagle cent are always available, Gems are another matter entirely. Coins that grade finer than MS65 are rarer still, with only 22 examples certified MS66 by NGC, and two higher (4/09). Delicate honey-gold shadings adorn the otherwise orange-tan surfaces. Every feature is sharply detailed, and the luster is full with a shimmering, warmly frosted sheen. A few flecks of carbon are noted on each side with close examination.
