Description

1858 Small Letters Flying Eagle Cent
Collectible MS63

1858 1C Small Letters MS63 PCGS. Eagle Eye Photo Seal, card included. The Small Letters subtype is slightly scarcer than its Large Letters counterpart, and it is most easily identified by obvious separation of the AM in AMERICA. This collectible Select example displays satiny bronzed-tan luster with overall well-defined motifs. Minor abrasions are not bothersome. While the Flying Eagle type was only produced for three years (counting the 1856 issue), numerous die varieties are known for each issue. Collectors of modest means often collect the series by date or type only, but a Guide Book set -- comprising five coins -- is also a popular option. The 1858 Small Letters coin is a Guide Book variety.(Registry values: N991)
