Description

1858 Flying Eagle Cent, MS66
Small Letters, Low Leaves

1858 1C Small Letters MS66 NGC. Low Leaves, Closed E in ONE. The Small Letters variant of the 1858 Flying Eagle cents can be easily distinguished by the separation between AM in AMERICA; those letters touch on the Large Letters variety, which is more frequently seen in the higher levels of Mint State. This peach-gold Premium Gem Small Letters displays vibrant luster and a full strike. Evidence of contact is virtually absent, and carbon is limited to a tiny spot at the mouth of the C in CENT. An outstanding representative of this briefly struck type coin. Census: 15 in 66, none finer (11/12).(Registry values: N4719)
