Description

1858/7 Indian Cent, MS62
Avidly Pursued Variety

1858/7 1C MS62 PCGS. CAC. Snow-1, FS-301. Both the die dot in the obverse field midway between the date and the eagle and the upcurve of the previous 7 are visible on this early-state Uncirculated example. The 1858/7 is avidly pursued by collectors, particularly early-state examples as here. Cherrypickers' says that "late-die-state specimens are always considered much less valuable than earlier die states." Tan and brown compete for territory on this piece, with some luster remaining but softly struck on some peripheral areas, as often seen on the variety. Population: 10 in 62, 50 finer (9/11).(Registry values: N2998)
