    Description

    1857 Flying Eagle Cent, MS65
    Smooth and Lustrous

1857 1C MS65 NGC. The introductory small cent type, the Flying Eagle, was struck for commerce only in 1857 and 1858 before ceding to its Indian successor. Mintages were generous relative to the large cent, but Gems are fairly scarce. This wheat-gold example offers vibrant luster and pleasing surfaces. The strike shows minor blending on the tail and cotton leaves. The insert is hand-signed by Guide Book editor Ken Bressett.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 226P, PCGS# 2016)
