    Description

    1858 Flying Eagle Cent, MS66
Large Letters, Three Coins Finer at PCGS

1858 1C Large Letters MS66 PCGS Secure. High Leaves Reverse, Closed E in ONE. The usual variety. The final-year 1858 Flying Eagle cent was widely saved, with the series' introduction having spurred on a massive boom in coin collecting in the United States. Examples can be found without too much effort in grades as high as MS65, above which point the issue becomes conditionally scarce.

Bronze-gold color dominates this highly lustrous Premium Gem. Blushes of coppery toning also appear on the obverse. Strike detail is nearly complete on that side, while the reverse exhibits softness on the right portion of the wreath. Ticks below (STA)T(ES), on the N in ONE, and under the N in CENT are the only apparent flaws. Die cracks travel through much of the obverse legends. Population: 43 in 66 (2 in 66+), 3 finer (10/18).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 2277, PCGS# 2019)

    Weight: 4.70 grams

    Metal: 88% Copper, 12% Nickel
