Description

1858/7 Flying Eagle Cent, MS64
Snow-1, FS-301, Guide Book Overdate

1858/7 1C Large Letters, Snow-1, FS-301, MS64 PCGS. CAC. Eagle Eye Photo Seal. Diagnostics for this overdate variety are plain. They include a triangular die lump in the field above the first 8 and the remnants of an underlying 7 northeast of the second 8. Rick Snow and the authors of the Cherrypickers' Guide emphasize the rarity of the 1858/7 Flying Eagle cent in MS65, but the issue is no slouch in near-Gem condition either. There are 30 MS64 submissions at PCGS (one in MS64+) and only 10 finer. Tan-gold surfaces are well-preserved and lustrous with strong detail on the eagle's breast feathers and the various wreath elements.
