First We Have Seen Gold "Peacemaker" Medal

Alexander I of Russia gold "Peacemaker" Medallic Essai 5 Francs 1814 MS63 NGC, Maz-766, cf. Diakov-379.3. By Tiolier. Issued to honor Alexander I after the defeat of Napoleon. This is a remarkable gold incarnation of the acclaimed Peacemaker of Europe 5 Francs and is exclaimed within the legends GALLIA REDDITA EUROPAE (France Returned to Europe). Brandishing a strike that is sharp and true, with a frosty complexion possessed by the devices, and a mirrored reflectivity in the fields, the overall impression evoked is practically prooflike.  Quite possibly a presentation piece for Alexander, with truly choice surfaces and a blazing golden hue with isolated points of scarlet patina, which only act to supplement the enticing nature of this ephemeral treasure. Never before encountered at auction and worthy of the utmost regard.
