Description
Louis Philippe 5 Francs 1830A, D-89, F-314-1, 25.02g, MS61 NGC. Only the Paris mint utilized the very much rarer tranche (edge) en relief during 1830. In fact the Paris First Provisional Type with tranche inscribed en relief is probably the rarest 5 Francs type/subvariety. Along with the other three mints that minted the type, Paris also utilized the old tranche inscribed en creux (incuse) Lightly toned, prooflike surfaces. As nice as the type comes. A rare specimen an important technological change in exceptional condition. From the Grundy Collection.
