Description
Louis XIIII Ecu 1708(9), D-1320, G-224, 27.28g, MS62 NGC. Rennes mint. Ecu aux 8L's-Type 2-Armored Bust. [Flan Neuf] (1/5). (1704-1709). After 1705, all 8L's Type II were struck flan neuf. While the coin is indicated to be a new flan specimen and having been minted in 1708 certainly should be flan neuf, there are signs of a host coin on obverse from 9:00 to 12:00. It could simply be a double strike. This example is well-struck with much toned luster. From the Grundy Collection.
