Description

Napoleon gold Specimen "Entry of the Empress Marie-Louise into France" Medal 1810 SP62 PCGS, Bram-949, Essling-1285, Julius-2260 var. (there, in silver and bronze). 32mm. 30.52gm. By Joseph Courtot. Variety with artist's signature to left. A highly impressive Napoleonic medal in gold, standing as the sole such specimen we have been able to locate coming to auction in recent years. Though Bramsen does not make any distinctions for the composition of this type, we would note that the Julius Collection only contained examples in bronze and silver, while that of Essling contained examples in all three metals. While light surface chatter appears to preclude a fully choice grade, the surfaces otherwise demonstrate essentially Prooflike qualities, full mirrorlike reflectivity visible throughout, paired with clear device frost.

Metal: Gold
Diameter: 32mm
