Spectacular Proof 100 Francs Essai 1861
Napoleon III gold Essai 100 Francs 1861, Maz-1602, VG-3574, Proof 64 Cameo NGC, a pattern issued prior to the regular 100 Franc laureate head series. Note the star beneath the truncation. Signed by Barre. An interesting overdate is present within the "6" of the date, possibly a "5". This exceptional offering displays full mirror-like fields with just a hint of whitish toning. Mazard lists the pattern as a rarity 4. The devices evince a frostiness which cannot be surpassed.Metal: Gold
