Description

Republic gold Proof 20 Francs 1889-A PR64 Cameo NGC, Paris mint, KM825, Fr-592. A sparkling specimen with rose-tinged mint bloom that effortlessly dances across glossy, reflective fields. Other than faint obverse wisps--most likely due to an old wipe--this piece shines from all angles. Equally as impressive are the design elements which portray the standing Genius writing the constitution--crisply-defined and with a subtle frost due to cameo contrast--and a reverse wreath motif which sits high atop the surrounding flash with each individual leaf fully-bold and wholly pleasing. An offering that is scarcely available, especially in this coveted near-Gem designation, and with a mintage of just 100 pieces struck in Proof, this present selection is not only an ideal representative, but also one of the nicest examples we've encountered.
